"Paper Garden"

Inspired by Victorian greeting cards and lacy, withered paper! I've always loved paper cut outs of roses and browned shades of parchment. I wanted to create the feeling of a forgotten card and declaration of love. I hand dyed the striped fabric with a weathered look. The roses are on printed velvet and have a pretty sheen. The bust is hand painted and the effect is really dimensional and gives the illusion of satin. I love how textural this one turned out to be. This was one of those pieces that just came alive as I worked on it. I had no idea what direction it would go so I just followed my instincts every step of the way. 
 
Dyed striped spandex. Hand dyed stretch lace. Stretch velvet. Crinkle effect satin bow. 
Costume is fully-lined and has a full-coverage booty. Gold rhinestone clip in the back. 
All edging is stretch metallic elastic.
Crystal embellishments.
Washing instruction: hand wash cool water, roll in towel, hang to dry.
